Hello, and welcome to my bio page! My name is Marie, and I am a dedicated healthcare professional with over 25 years of experience in the field of community health care. As an APRN-PHN, IBCLC, I have had the privilege of serving individuals and families of all ages in various capacities. In 2021, I made the decision to further my education and training by completing a post-graduate degree to become a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan, (PMHNP) and am now board certified in this specialty.

Throughout my career, I have encountered and overcome many of life’s challenges. These “growth opportunities” have shaped me into a compassionate and understanding provider. My personal experiences with divorce, family courts, medical trauma, mental illness, and navigating the complexities of the healthcare system have driven me to pursue a career in mental health care. These experiences have equipped me with the empathy, patience, and perspective needed to support my patients on their journey towards healing and wellness.

As a provider, I take a personalized approach to psychotherapy, utilizing creative interactions as opportunities to help individuals and their loved ones achieve their goals and live their definition of fulfilling lives. I am conservative as a prescriber, but also understand the intricacies and nuances of neuro-pathophysiology and the need for sufficient psychopharmacologic interventions. I believe in collaborating with my patients to develop patient-driven, individualized treatment plans that address their unique needs and learning styles.

In addition to being a health care provider, I am a wife and a mommy to 3 of the best human beings on the planet! My greatest joy in life has come from being a parent to my kiddos who are 21, 23, and 27, and although they are considered “adults”, they will always be my babies. At one time I played as many as 6 instruments, but have really only kept up on the piano, which I love to play! I love to rock climb, mostly in the gym these days; it is my favorite form of therapy, as it can help with all sorts of mental health challenges. Once upon a time I was a collegiate athlete; soccer was my main sport, which naturally led to… muay thai? Ask me about my time as a muay thai fighter, and how this sport can help anyone safely relieve pent up frustration!

I am so excited to be part of the team at Herriman Counseling Services, where I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of those I serve. Let’s work together to create a path towards a brighter and healthier future!
